2Pac - Until the End of Time

Released on March 27, 2001, Until the End of Time is the seventh studio album and the third posthumous opus by 2Pac. The result of a collaboration between Amaru Records and Death Row Records, this double album compiles previously unreleased tracks from prior recording sessions.

Between Legacy and Remixing

The project relies on a selection of past tracks, most of which underwent musical revisions after the initial recordings. While these compositions were extensively reworked compared to their raw state, the final product remains solid. Production notably features notable samples, such as Michael Jackson's "Liberian Girl" used on Letter 2 My Unborn.

Focus on Key Tracks and the Transformation of "This Ain't Livin'"

The album offers standout tracks like Until the End of Time or Good Life. However, the scale of remixing raises questions about the integrity of the original sessions. This is particularly evident on This Ain't Livin', where initial collaborations were replaced and 2Pac's dedications erased to leave only the word "Outlawz".

A Collective Dynamic on Selected Tracks

The album integrates several features that densify the sonic texture. On Good Life, contributions from Big Syke and E.D.I. Mean add an extra dimension to the production. The track Until the End of Time (RP Remix) offers a variation on the original theme.

A massive commercial success in 2001

Despite the changes made to the compositions and the use of posthumous material, Until the End of Time flopped with the audience. The album established itself as one of the best-selling hip-hop albums of 2001, confirming the artist's commercial power at the turn of the millennium. It was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA.
