JasonMartin - MAFIA CAFE

In the Parisian night, the asphalt still echoes with the rhythm of a Californian beat. The EP MAFIA CAFE condenses its universe into 19 minutes and 46 seconds.

Structure: from the first "I CANT TELL" to the last "STAY FRESH THROUGH IT ALL"

The EP contains 11 tracks. From I CANT TELL, the listener is immersed in a sharp urban rhythm that prepares the ground for the subsequent lyrical reflections. The second track, CHECK IT OUT feat. Quair Ramik, creates an auditory and narrative tension; the inclusion of a distinct voice offers a contrast without breaking the overall coherence. The intermediate tracks – WHEN WILL THEY LEARN, EXPENSIVE RENTALS, CHOICES, BLACK ENTERTAINMENT, CAFALONIA, PITY THE FOOLS, AKADEMIKS FINALLY SAYS WORTH LISTENING TO, TRICKY TIMES – maintain a thematic thread, exploring the life of the neighborhood and the rapper's ambitions. The final track, STAY FRESH THROUGH IT ALL, concludes the cycle by reminding the importance of remaining authentic while evolving. The compact format of the EP allows for a smooth listening experience: each track flows naturally, the transitions are well-crafted, and the total duration remains sufficiently short so that the entire EP can be listened to in one sitting. This structure reflects Jason Martin's intention to create a coherent auditory journey, without unnecessary distractions.

Mike & Keys: the sonic thread

The beats are entirely produced by Mike & Keys, Jason Martin's regular collaborators. Their approach creates an urban sound that respects the artist's musical palette while adding a unique texture to this EP. The arrangements remain relatively light, allowing the lyrics to stand out without being overwhelmed by the production. This consistent sound gives the EP a clear identity and a solid foundation for listeners. The simplicity of the bass guitars, minimalist synths, and impactful percussion creates a framework where Jason Martin and Quair Ramik's voices can fully express themselves.

Unique collaboration: CHECK IT OUT with Quair Ramik

Quair Ramik appears only on the second track. His presence adds an extra layer of energy and a notable vocal contrast with Jason Martin's main flow. Placing the collaboration at the beginning of the album creates an immediate impact while preserving the unity of the remaining tracks. No other featured artist is used to maintain focus on the central message of the EP.
