Koba LaD - Détail

Released on October 23, 2020, Détail is an album that doesn't seek ease. Yet the other subjects—reflection and self-awareness—do not disappear for all that.

The third studio album as reflection

Following two predecessors, Détail is the third studio album by French rapper Koba LaD. It was released on Grinta Records. The album features 15 tracks, including several collaborations with Vald, Freeze Corleone, Ninho, PLK, and Maes. Relatively accomplished and diverse, it marks a step in the career of the rapper from Évry. It is described as a calculated project for commercial success, blending trap and melancholic tracks.

The trap sound as a melancholic envelope

The facts do not allow determining the main producers nor describing the overall sound beyond the mentions "trap" and "melancholic tracks." This production serves as an envelope for intimate and introspective lyrics.

Vald, Freeze Corleone, and Ninho: featurings that dialogue with the text

Five of the fifteen tracks on the album feature a credited guest. On Pas de reine, Vald appears in a featuring role. His voice confirms the presence of an established artist from French rap, adding a collaborative dimension to the track. Finally, Ninho intervenes on Encore, an invitation from a renowned rapper that reinforces the album's commercial credibility while participating in opening the circle of collaborations.

PLK and Maes/Zed: The Committed Voice and the Circle as Mirrors of Writing

On Coffre plein, Maes and Zed are credited in featuring. Their dual presence suggests a team dynamic, a camaraderie between artists from the circle or same group that translates into a vocal exchange structured around a shared beat.

A Lyricism Tense Between Intimacy and Social Consciousness

Koba LaD navigates Détail between personal vulnerability and collective engagement. Each track, whether solo or collaborative, contributes to this architecture where the rapper places his voice above the noise of his environment. The album does not seek to shine through audacity, but through the consolidation of a notoriety that anchors in a local reality while opening toward broader reception.

Détail validates Koba LaD's bet on the French scene. It is presented as a notable commercial success for an artist from Évry, but also as a work that does not sacrifice its singularity. The album stands out through its diversity of styles, its positive critical reception described as a finished work, and the way each featuring serves as a rhetorical counterpoint to the global writing.
