Lacraps - MENTALIDAD

This album is not a surprise, but a confirmation: two independent artists coming together on the same track with a clear project and precise intentions. This record serves as a mirror of their respective journeys, a point of convergence between two worlds that do not always resemble one another but are drawn to each other.

"Gang de Roubaix": The Role of Featurings in Expanding the Project

The only track with a feature, Gang de Roubaix, is the moment where MENTALIDAD steps out of its usual frame. Their presence is not anecdotal: it adds a layer of energy and vocal density that broadens the sonic field. It is here that the album reveals itself as most complete: a blend of influences, styles, and voices that do not impose themselves but coexist.

Two Styles, One Approach? Comparative Analysis on Non-Featuring Tracks

The other tracks from MENTALIDAD are more introspective moments. Les poches vides, however, is a track where the two artists come together in the same emotional register. The beat is dark, almost desperate, and the lyrics speak of disappointment, lack, and absence. It is here that one feels best the synergy between Lacraps and Rimkhana: two voices that do not resemble each other but share the same pain.

A Sonic Universe in Motion

The album MENTALIDAD demonstrates an uncompromising commitment to diversity. Each track seems built around a theme or central idea, allowing the listener to follow a narrative and emotional journey. While the beats vary, they remain faithful to independent production: simple yet effective sounds that are sometimes minimalist, other times more complex. This reflects the balance between the need for experimentation and the necessity of maintaining a clear identity.

Verdict: An album that raises questions

MENTALIDAD is not a breakthrough record, but a project that fits within a continuum. It does not seek to revolutionize French rap, but rather proposes a sincere collaboration between two independent artists. This is an album that raises questions: about the role of the producer, about the balance between styles, about the necessity of a feature to expand a project. But it is also a record that shows that independent rap can be rich, varied, and deep. MENTALIDAD is not perfect, but it is sincere — and perhaps that is what matters most.
