Lesram - MALVADO

By Le Stagiaire·

On November 21, 2025, Lesram releases MALVADO, an album that appears to have been conceived as a prolonged introspection. Just months after consolidating his musical universe, the artist from Pré-Saint-Gervais delivers an album where silences are just as important as lyrics. It is a project distinguished by its sobriety, a clear intention to move away from dominant conventions and explore darker, more intimate territories.

The solitude of the creator: no producers or features across eleven tracks

MALVADO unfolds in almost total silence. This creates an atmosphere of isolated creation, as if each track were the fruit of personal reflection, without intermediaries, without compromise. This absence is not due to forgetfulness or lack, but seems to be a deliberate choice. Lesram establishes himself here as the absolute author of his universe, leaving each song room to breathe, to resonate outside the norms of contemporary rap.

"AUSTIN POWERS feat. Limsa d'Aulnay": a moment of light in total shadow

The only track that breaks this solitude is AUSTIN POWERS, on which Limsa d'Aulnay appears. This collaboration, though brief, adds an extra dimension to the song. Her voice, more airy and less dark, contrasts with the album's general atmosphere. It's as if this guest presence introduces unexpected lighting into a landscape usually plunged in darkness. Limsa d'Aulnay doesn't come to disrupt the message but rather to complete it, offering a different perspective on the themes addressed.

Between betrayal and friendship: the narrative tension of the themes explored

The album explores deep subjects — friendship, betrayal, reflection on the world. These themes are not treated in a conventional manner, nor with the light codes of current rap. Lesram fits into a more introspective vein, where every line seems to weigh heavily, where every word is a choice. This is a stark contrast to the sounds of "variety trap," which often dominate the French musical landscape. Here, music is not a vehicle for entertainment but a tool for personal exploration.

Moving away from "variety trap" as a break with dominant codes

MALVADO thus marks a deliberate break. Lesram appears to have intentionally distanced himself from current trends to propose an album that feels more like a work of art than a rap record. This does not mean the absence of rhythm or structure, but rather a reconsideration of the role of rap in storytelling and emotion. The album is technical, introspective, and at times even unsettling—as if it were attempting to express emotions that ordinary language could not capture. The lack of credited producers, the spartan nature of the record, the uniqueness of the feature on AUSTIN POWERS: everything in MALVADO seems built around a contrast. Between light and shadow, solitude and collaboration, introspection and storytelling. It is an album that does not seek to please, but to speak—and what it says is powerful, dense, sometimes unexpected. There is no room for shortcuts here, only a determination to go beyond appearances, into the intimacy of sound and word.
