Post Malone - beerbongs & bentleys

Beerbongs & Bentleys: the introspective album behind a massive hit

A sonic palette between hip-hop, trap, and pop melodies

The musical approach of the album is described as a blend of hip-hop, trap, and catchy pop influences. This fusion creates a distinct identity, although the production is characterized as light and catchy without a single clear artistic direction emerging across all tracks. The album immerses the listener in a "dirtbag" luxury vision of Los Angeles, defined by a specific aesthetic that runs through every track. While no specific certifications or rankings are detailed here, the record has achieved significant commercial success, breaking streaming records and placing several songs in the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Featuring Swae Lee, 21 Savage, Ty Dolla Sign, and Nicki Minaj as catalysts for the sound

These collaborations mark the album with their sonic signatures. "Spoil My Night" welcomes Swae Lee for a melodic duo that quickly takes hold. On "Rockstar," the presence of 21 Savage reinforces the trap and dark side of the track, while Ty Dolla Sign adds his distinctive vocal touch on "Psycho." Finally, Nicki Minaj appears on "Ball For Me," injecting powerful rap energy that revitalizes the song. These guests illustrate the artist's willingness to mix genres and expand their musical universe through recognized voices.

A critical review of an 18-track album that redefined streaming codes in 2018

In total, beerbongs & bentleys consists of 18 tracks. While the critical reception was mixed, some observers note that the album sometimes lacks homogeneity to grind Post Malone into a single sound. Others highlight his ability to establish himself as a lasting reference through his singular vision and commitment to urban luxury.
